Each category converts through an internal base unit to keep calculations consistent. All factors live in a single constants file, so adding a new unit is as simple as adding one line. Temperature conversions follow linear equations, while data units support both SI (powers of 10) and IEC (powers of 2) systems.

FAQ

How do SI and Imperial units compare?

The converter stores every unit relative to a single base (meter, kilogram, etc.). When you enter values, it converts to that base, then outputs to all supported SI and Imperial (or U.S. customary) units immediately.

What about SI vs IEC data units?

Select between decimal SI (kB, MB, GB) and binary IEC (KiB, MiB, GiB) in the data category. Each system uses its own multiplier (powers of 10 or 2).

How are numbers rounded?

Use the decimal control to set rounding up to 10 places. Scientific notation converts numbers into engineering format when you need to keep very large or very small values readable.
